The MinKwon Center for Community Action empowers the Korean American community and works with the wider Asian Pacific American (APA) and immigrant communities to achieve economic and social justice for all. We envision a just and equitable society where all people can live in harmony, dream and achieve their full potential.

Young Korean American Service and Education Center, New York, established
1985
New York Cultural Troupe, Binari, is created
1990

MinKwon helped launch the Washington Post ad campaign, highlighting immigrants' contributions to American society.

Joined in Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act, (DREAM) Act campaign
2005
MinKwon led a New York Times advertisement campaign against anti-immigrant legislation
2006
MinKwon participated in "We Are America" movement that swept across the country.
2009
Launch of immigrant rights clinics.
In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we relaunched as the MinKwon Center for Community Action (MinKwon translates as "civil rights").
Established 12% and Growing Coalition
2010
Joined hundreds of immigrant rights organizations from nearly every state in the country at "March For America" in Washington, D.C.
2012
Launch of legal services for DACA.
2014
10 years after MinKwon started its New Immigrant Voter Registration Drive, we have registered 60,000+ new immigrant voters in NY State.
2016
Joined voices for #BlackLivesMatter, calling on the end of systemic racism in law enforcement
2023
Registered over 90,000 new immigrant voters.
