Binari Poongmul Club
Culture is an important element that carries on the traditions of Korean Americans and functionsas a part of the diverse ethnic cultures within American society.
Our Cultural Program seeks to preserve and introduce Korean traditional “People’s” culture to audiences by teaching poongmul (traditional Korean percussion) and celebrating our heritage. In addition, it also plays a role in empowering advocacy and community outreach efforts.
The MinKwon Center founded the New York Korean cultural troupe “BINARI” in 1985 to promote and teach poongmul, providing community members with opportunities to learn traditional percussion and engage in cultural activities.
