The MinKwon Center believes fostering community action at the heart of what we do. MinKwon’s Advocacy & Community Organizing’s two-fold approach represents our community’s needs on the federal, state and local levels of government and provides our community the platform to engage in grassroots organizing and activism.
The MinKwon Center works to empower Asian American and immigrant communities through civic engagement and grassroots organizing. As a founding member of APA VOICE, we’ve helped register over 90,000 new voters, developed one of NYC’s first Korean American voter databases, and led multilingual outreach campaigns—including during major changes like the shift to ranked-choice voting in NYC. Through voter education, advocacy, and election protection, we ensure our communities have the tools and support to make their voices heard in the democratic process.
At the MinKwon Center, we see the potential in youth as leaders of today and tomorrow. YEP provides Asian-American high school youth the opportunity to learn new skills outside of an academic setting through education, service, and interpersonal development/team-building.
Founded in October 2023, MK Space is a non-profit organization and alternative exhibition space under the MinKwon Center, located in Palisades Park, New Jersey. MK Space aims to support vulnerable communities through cultural and artistic initiatives in collaboration with members of immigrant communities. MK Space not only fosters the growth of local art but also embodies and practices the spirit of unity and recovery in the aftermath of the pandemic, promoting community service and sharing through the arts.
